Build acceptance of the plan

Authentic engagement of stakeholders in the creation the adaptation strategies means that they are much more likely to be accepted, especially if the stakeholders involved are willing to play an advocacy or championing role in promoting the plan. Implementing the plan in a diverse stakeholder group if well facilitated, can encourage creativity, new thinking and build trust and cooperation. This also encourages shared responsibility for implementation through realising the need for change having had a chance to explore the gap between current reality and a shared vision. Tools that target this outcome aim to facilitate a strong sense of ownership and commitment to the plan that results. If managed well, issues that have previously been difficult to address can be discussed and by having a clear and complete picture of current reality, more effective decisions can be made.
