Agriculture.
Since agricultural production is directly affected by climate conditions, the relation between climate and food production attracts high attention. Therefore there are numerous historical records describing this relation. Besides the collection of historical publications the CIR contains results from project partners of INKA-BB with simulation results of various climate scenarios.
Most resources of the CIR refer to the relation between yield of agricultural or horticultural crops and changes of temperature and / or precipitation. Often special aspects of climate change impacts on quality are highlighted. The content of the collected records differs from general statements regarding detailed descriptions of specific impacts of temperature and precipitation changes within plant-specific growth stages of single crops. Mainly the climate effects on cereals like wheat and barley are discussed; to a lesser extend the effects on root crops like potatoes and sugarbeet are described.
