Jessica Strefler is a senior scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). She leads the Carbon Management Team in the energy systems group of Research Department 3 (Transformation Pathways).
Currently she is the scientific coordinator of the project NAVIGATE, and works on carbon dioxide removal (CDR) in the projects UPTAKE, RETAKE, and CDRSynTra.
Jessica studied physics in Heidelberg, Hamburg, and Berlin and earned her doctorate at the TU Berlin on the topic of non-CO2 emissions in global energy systems. She joined PIK in 2009 where she is a developer of the hybrid energy-economy model REMIND. Her current research is focused on the influence of different carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies on global climate change mitigation strategies, and on carbon capture use and storage (CCUS).
