How climate destabilization affects human security is of major concern to decision-makers. Global warming and weather extremes clearly drive up direct health risks, from heat-related cardiovascular risks to infectious diseases. Indirect effects are just as relevant, like droughts leading to malnutrition of very young children with potentially lifelong health impacts. Yet climate extremes might also fuel regional conflicts and contribute to migration. These combined climate impacts may hamper socio-economic development in many low-income countries around the world.
