My research focuses on climate change impacts on forests and on all other kinds of socio-ecological systems, adaptation to these impacts as well as how resilience, sustainable development and natural resource management interact with cross-sectoral climate impacts. To assess uncertainties of climate impact projections I have gained expertise in designing and analyzing model intercomparison studies.

Having graduated with a double M.Sc. degree from Wageningen University, NL and the University of Joensuu, FI in 2009, I finished my Phd focusing on modeling climate impacts on forest ecosystems at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the Humboldt University Berlin in 2013. Since then, I was coordinating lead author of the Turn Down the Heat report for the World Bank and Chair of the COST Action PROFOUND. Currently, I am leading the Forest and Ecoystem Resilience Group at PIK and I am working in the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP) coordinating the forest, biome, biodiversity and fire sector activities. I am also leading the COST Action PROCLIAS (CA19139). Moreover, I am the 'topical collection chief editor' of the journal Regional Environmental Change handling all special issue papers and supervising all guest editors. Additionally, I have been teaching a course on “Adaptation to Global Change” at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and the Humboldt University Berlin in the past years. I strive to publish my research in scientific journals but also in other publications for a non-scientific audience.
