Leon Merfort

Doctoral Researcher
Merfort

Leon Merfort studied physics at the Technical University Berlin and wrote his master thesis in the field of complex systems on modeling synchronization patterns in empirical networks of the human brain. After finishing his master's degree in March 2018, he worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Theoretical Physics at TU Berlin doing research on neural networks and assisting lectures on theoretical physics. In 2019 he joined the PIK as a PhD Student working on several Projects and in particular on the DIPOL, RESCUE and OptimESM project. He is part of the Integrated Assessment Modelling group and investigates questions regarding the interaction of energy and land system transformation with a focus on bioenergy as a means to climate change mitigation.
