Lila has been a post-doctoral research at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research since 2011. Starting in 2019, she is a research analyst to the institute's directors.
Lila has a PhD in astrophysics from the University of Melbourne, Australia, where she worked on refining the understanding of a curious rotational behaviour of neutron stars, known as 'glitches'. From 2014-2018 Lila was the scientific project manager of the Inster-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP). Prior to that she conducted research within ISIMIP on the potential for major shifts in global ecosystems under different climate-change scenarios.
