Laurin Köhler-Schindler has been a postdoctoral researcher in Research Department 3 (Transformation Pathways) since March 2024. He is part of the Integrated Assessment Modelling team and coordinates PIK's scenario contribution to ScenarioMIP for CMIP7. His research focuses on climate policy in the REMIND model as well as on public budgets and fiscal pressure in the context of sustainability transitions.

He is a mathematician by training and previously completed his doctorate in the Probability Theory Group at ETH Zurich under the supervision of Vincent Tassion, where he studied phase transitions and critical phenomena in percolation models and in spin models from statistical mechanics.
