Kristine Karstens studied physics and philosophy at the University of Rostock. In late 2016, she joined PIK as a PhD candidate, focusing on soil carbon sequestration options. As part of the Land Use Transition Lab (RD2), she also works on a broader range of land-based CDR methods and, more generally, on the representation of the carbon cycle within the jointly developed land-system modelling framework MAgPIE.
