Joanna Sitarz is a Doctoral Researcher in the Energy Systems group at PIK. In her work she is analyzing policy instruments needed for Germany's and Europe's transitions towards climate neutrality. In particular, she is focusing on better understanding the impacts of myopic decision making on transformation pathways.
Joanna holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen. In her studies she specialized in energy engineering and numerical optimization. Before joining PIK, she worked as an intern at the Directorate-General for Climate Action of the European Commission as well as Poland's Ministry of Climate and Environment.
