Wrap Up of the presentation of CoNDyNet results
From June 12 - 14, 2017, PIK hosted representatives from science, industry, politics and civil society to exchange and discuss the latest results of research into the short, mid and long-term dynamics of power systems.
Under leadership of PIK's RD4, the BmBF funded joint project Complex Nonlinear Dynamics on Networks (CoNDyNet) successfully showed how to bring ideas and methods from theoretical physics, complexity science and network theory to bear on problems of the energy transition.
In the first part of the conference, the project partners, MPI Goettingen, FIAS, FZJ, JUB and PIK presented their results on dynamical phenomena in future power systems, new algorithms for understanding the impact of outages, optimal network and power system design, governance and market interactions and more.
In the second part of the conference, we explored more ways to bring the results of research into practical application and translate concrete challenges faced by stakeholders into research questions and collaborations. We will discuss the current challenges with grid operators, engineering and consulting companies.
