Dr.-Ing. Hannes Rauhe

Scientist
Rauhe

I am a researcher and software engineer at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), working within the Planetary Boundary Science Initiative (PBScience). My focus is on designing and implementing robust data management architectures that support the assessment of planetary boundaries.

With a background in computer science (Ph.D.) and over a decade of experience in software development and big data management, I have worked on large-scale data systems at SAP and Amazon before joining PIK. My expertise includes high-performance computing, database systems, software engineering, and AI-driven data analysis.

At PIK, I develop and maintain the PB Analyzer, an advanced data processing framework that integrates complex environmental datasets to assess planetary boundaries. My work ensures data integrity, security, and accessibility, enabling researchers to track Earth's health with reliable and scalable tools.

I am passionate about using my technical skills to contribute to climate research and sustainability. By bridging computer science and Earth system research, I aim to develop innovative solutions that enhance data-driven decision-making for a sustainable future.

Feel free to reach out if you're interested in collaborations, data management strategies, or discussions on technology and planetary boundaries research.
