In the center of our activities is the field of nonlinear dynamics and control in complex systems and networks. We perform theoretical investigations and computer simulations of self-organized spatio-temporal pattern formation and its control, for instance by time-delayed feedback methods, and stochastic influences and noise. Our current research focusses on complex, chaotic, or noise-induced space-time patterns, in particular synchronization patterns and chimera states in complex networks and the interplay between nonlinear dynamics, network topology, and coupling delay. As state-of-the-art applications we investigate power grids, optoelectronic and neural systems, in particular neuronal network dynamics.
