Scientist
Billing

Maik Billing is a Researcher in the Working Group on Ecosystems in Transition and member of the PBScience Initiative. He works on disentangling the relations between functional diversity, plant traits, ecosystem functions and their effect on forest stability. His research also explores how these relationships operate on a larger scale, contributing to the general understanding of biosphere stability. In another part of his reasearch he focusses on the influence of vegetation and land-use on wildfires in Europe.

In his research, he combines process-based models, machine learning and statistics - and enjoys using 3D software (Blender, UE5) to make his findings more tangible to others.
