Alex Hagen joined the Transformation Pathways department of PIK as a postdoctoral researcher in September 2024. They are a member of the "Transport Transitions" team within the Energy Systems group. In their work they especially focus on numerical modelling and research software engineering for transition pathways in the global transport sector and therefore work closely with Research Software Engineering for Transformation Pathways.
Alex Hagen holds a PhD in theoretical physics from Philipps University of Marburg. During their doctoral studies they used numerical modelling to investigate extreme nonlinear optics in semiconductors. Before that, they were trained in physics and biomedical sciences.
