Kanwal Nayan Singh is presently working as Manager at World Resources Institute (WRI) in New Delhi, India, and a Guest Scientist at Potsdam-Institut für Klimafolgenforschung (PIK). At WRI, he is managing a multidisciplinary team, leading, and working on projects related to vulnerability analysis and transport planning, Hydrogen hub suitability in India.
Prior to his present role at WRI, Kanwal was a Doctoral researcher in the Complexity Network division at PIK working on East Africa Peru India Climate Capacity (EPICC) project on spatial data visualizations, field surveys, organizing workshops in three different countries (Peru, India, and Tanzania). Before joining PIK, he spent half a decade at TERI, where he gained his research experience in natural resource-based infrastructure particularly related to the urban environment, forestry, land use, and rural development.
He has led assignments in developing methods and applications for land use analysis, soil and water assessment, climate modeling, hotspot analyses, and urban environment indicators. Besides this, he gained his skills in proposal and business development, project investigation, organizing workshops and client management. In the past, he has been teaching at TERI SAS as Associate faculty taking 4 credit courses for M.Sc. (Geoinformatics) and Ph.D. students and Guest lectures at TERI SAS and IIT-Roorkee. He has contributed as a lead and co-authored multiple published books and research papers and presented at multiple conferences and workshops in the USA, UK, Tanzania, Austria, and India.
Kanwal pursued his Master’s from TERI School of Advanced Studies in Geoinformatics and Bachelor’s in Computer applications, Diploma in animation and graphic designing. He is equipped with Remote sensing and GIS applications, data visualization tools and multiple programming languages. Presently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. from Universität Potsdam, Germany.
Kanwal pursued his Master’s from TERI School of Advanced Studies in Geoinformatics and Bachelor’s in Computer Applications, Diploma in Animation and Graphic designing. He is equipped with Remote sensing and GIS applications, Data visualization tools and multiple Programming languages.
