Detlef F. Sprinz is Senior Scientist at PIK—Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Germany, a Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam, Germany, and Research Affiliate at ESSCA School of Management, Angers, France. During 2024-2025, he leads the project “AMaReNa - A Market for the Restoration of Nature.”
He received a Ph.D. and a M.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, as well as a M.A. (“Diplom-Volkswirt”) in Economics from the University of the Saarland, Saarbrücken, Germany. He coordinated a research group at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg, Centre for Global Cooperation Research, located at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, on credible commitment to long-term policy from January-August 2017. During the academic year 2017-18, Detlef Sprinz served as Rice Faculty Fellow & Visiting Professor in the European Studies Council, Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies, the Department of Political Science, and the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (now: Yale School of the Environment), Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA.
