Giulia is a development economist. She works both with the Adaptation in Agricultural Systems and with the Climate Change and Health working groups. Her research focuses on the socio-economic impacts of climate change and adaptation solutions in low- and middle-income countries.

Giulia holds a PhD in Development Economics and Local Systems (DELoS) from the Universities of Trento and Florence with a thesis on poverty traps and climatic shocks, refugees and income diversification. Prior to her PhD, she was an intern at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and at the Bank of Italy’s Office of Economic Research (Florence). She studied Economics and Development (MS) and International Cooperation and Economic Development (Ba) at the University of Florence. She is also interested in agricultural economics, food security, rural development, and gender issues.
