In order to perform cutting-edge research in the fields of global change, climate impacts and sustainable development, it is vital for the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) to attract talented young scientists. Various opportunities for a scientific career can be offered, as well as apprenticeships in the IT sector or the administration and a traineeship in the public relations office. PIK offers a few places each year for an unpaid internship and supervises theses.
Junior researchers – PhD students and postdocs – form the major group of scientists at PIK. They play an important role in research and are an integral element of the institute’s culture. Therefore, PIK tries to offer excellent working conditions in international research teams here in Potsdam.
For a modern institute like PIK this includes that all employees are able to balance their family life with their working life. Equal opportunities are part of the institute’s living culture.
