Together, economist Ottmar Edenhofer and Earth scientist Johan Rockström are Scientific Directors of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, representing the interdisciplinary and solutions-oriented approach of the institute. Bettina Hörstrup jointly leads the institute as Administrative Director with her legal and human resource expertise. This team of leaders started taking office from 2018 onwards and is determined to steer an excellence-driven institute into the future - an institute that takes integrated climate research to a new level, serving the global scientific community but also informing decision-makers, and society as a whole.

Ottmar Edenhofer is Director and Chief Economist of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research as well as Director of the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change and Professor of Climate Economics and Public Policy at the Technische Universität Berlin.
