Development and validation of a multidimensional index to map climate-conflict vulnerability

This project advances the knowledge base and improves early warning of climate-related risks to peace and security to support policy making and programming. The goal is to develop and visualize a forward-looking comprehensive, multidimensional index capturing climate and conflict vulnerability (i.e., vulnerability to armed conflicts due to climate change impacts on socio-economic factors) in the short- to medium-term and under different global warming scenarios, accounting for local and cascading climate impacts and compound risks. Improving the understanding of gender and intersectionality, temporal dynamics as well as cascading and compound risks in the climate-conflict nexus while considering different definitions of conflict are important topical research gaps that we aim to fill, promising a high potential for publication.
