CI Collaboration

CI Collaboration / Support for Rockstrom Distinguished Fellowship

The aim of this project is to support Johan Rockstrom in his role as chief scientist of Conservation International and coordinate the collaborative research and targeted stakeholder engagement to build awareness and support for key findings and policy recommendations around the following key priorities: (1) Explore pathways of biosphere stewardship towards a net zero land sector including the “exponential roadmap for natural climate solutions”. (2) Identify new research gaps and opportunities to engage diverse sectors to move beyond incremental targets to reduce emissions towards transformational approaches, underpinned by Science-based targets, that are consistent with <2°C future and nature-positive practices. (3) Advance a global vision for accelerating nature-based approaches to adaptation and resilience – across scales from communities to ecosystems to biomes jointly with CI. (4) Foster discussions with the wider community to work towards a clearer definition and science-based quantification of nature positive and the interconnections of nature positive and net zero goals.
