PIK director Hans Joachim Schellnhuber published a statement with a first assessment, as did PIK's chief economist Ottmar Edenhofer. Both commented Trump´s decision on the same evening live for both major German public broadcasters in the news show Tagesthemen, an ARD special broadcast on the subject and in ZDF's heute Journal. The latter invited Ottmar Edenhofer one day later again for their main news. He also appeared in N24 television. Stefan Rahmstorf evaluated the decision in the broadcast "Kontraste". Regional TV featured Hermann Lotze-Campen who spoke with ZIBB and Hans Joachim Schellnhuber; he appeared live in Brandenburg aktuell news show. Furthermore, Daniel Klingenfeld talked to N24 and Al Jazeera (no link yet).
At that night of the announcement, Schellnhuber spoke to German news agency dpa and the daily Welt, while statements in the newspaper Bild and an astonishing number of radio interviews had been produced by that time. The majority of the interviews were given by Wolfgang Lucht (including BBC, Deutschlandfunk, NDR, HR) and Hermann Lotze-Campen (Radio Eins, SWR, and others), but also Stefan Rahmstorf (Radio Eins) or Anders Levermann (daily newspaper WAZ). Bild am Sonntag spoke with Hermann Lotze-Campen and also the Radio Vatikan took a stand. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber had an interview in the major weekly Die Zeit.
Internationally the Washington Post, the Guardian, the New York Times, Nature and Valor Economico resorted to the expertise of the PIK. All in all, an evaluation is still impossible - in the 24 hours around Trump`s announcement at the White House there have been around 3000 online references to PIK experts.
