14/02/2018 - The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) is the world’s most influential environmental think tank, a new ranking shows. For the ninth year in a row, PIK has been ranked among the top think tanks in the world working on environmental policy. The "Global Go To Think Tank Index Report 2017" that has just been published by the University of Pennsylvania, altogether considered more than 6,500 institutions across the globe.
As the number one "Top Environment Policy Think Tank" worldwide, PIK has been placed right before the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the World Resources Institute in Washington D.C. In the general think tank ranking, Brookings Institution from the US came out on top, followed by the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI) and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) from the US. The yearly ranking started in 2008 and relies on the help of a panel of over 1,950 peer institutions and experts from the print and electronic media, academia, public and private donor institutions, and governments around the world.
