“Decision makers in politics and business need to know how to mitigate climate change, but they also need to know how to cope with its unavoidable impacts – we are glad to strengthen our research in this direction and launch the joint professorship with Nicole Glanemann”, says Anders Levermann, co-chair of PIK's research domain Sustainable Solutions. Glanemann received a doctorate at Hamburg University, where she worked on climate and environmental questions in the economics department. At PIK she will lead the flagship project on Economics of Adaptation and work closely with the Global Adaptation Strategies Research Group.
Glanemann will also work at the WHU in close collaboration with the members of the Supply Chain Management Group focusing on Sustainable Supply Chains. The WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is a privately funded business school based in Vallendar/Koblenz and in Düsseldorf. It is one of Germany's leading business schools and is consistently ranked among the top business schools in Europe. “We are looking forward to the broader collaboration with one of the foremost institutions in climate and sustainability research”, says Stefan Spinler, speaker of the Supply Chain Management Group at WHU. “There has already been fruitful exchange with the PIK in the past. The interdisciplinary approach and the collaboration between natural scientists and economists will be of benefit to both partners”.
