Karen Duve presented her new novel “Power” in which she sketches an apocalyptic reality in future where natural disasters have become the new normal. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber read from his book “Self combustion”, spanning a range from the history of climate science to political encounters at climate summits and the possible impacts of a world with 4 degrees of warming. In a discussion with the rbb-journalist Astrid Frohloff the two talked about the necessity to act, the difficulties to handle one of mankind´s greatest challenges, and the hope that global warming can still be limited.
Science and literature were one of the key topics ot this year´s LIT:potsdam that took place for the fourth time. Readings and talks with eminent authors and scientists about climate change, migration, justice and violence were at the center of the festival. The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research at Potsdam´s Telegrafenberg took part for the first time as the host of the pre-opening.
