"I have the highest respect for your tireless commitment as a scientist and citizen for climate protection and the energy transition," wrote Minister President Woidke in his congratulations, which were also distributed as a press release. "Together with your colleagues at PIK, you have contributed significantly to the fact that the economics of climate change and strategies for climate protection and the energy transition are now being discussed in politics, business and the public in a solution-oriented manner. As Minister President of the energy state of Brandenburg, I appreciate this and thank you very much for your advice and support. With your expertise as a scientist and your commitment to climate protection, you are a cherished Brandenburger who is a credit to our state."
Amongst the well-wishers were also economists such as Nicolas Stern from London, Rob Stavins from Harvard/USA, Hans-Werner Sinn from Munich and Christoph Schmidt from Essen, as well as stakeholders such as UNFCCC Secretary-General Patricia Espinosa and the President of the German Automotive Industry Association, Hildegard Müller. Last but not least, Bavarian cabaret artist Gerhard Polt wrote a tribute to Edenhofer, who is also from Bavaria.
