10/22/2015 - President Obama’s Science Advisor John Holdren visited the Potsdam-Institute for Climate Impact Research to discuss climate change issues with its director John Schellnhuber. Holdren is Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Assistant to the President for Science and Technology Policy . Before taking office, he was a Professor at Harvard University; like Schellnhuber, he is a physicist.
“It is a great honour of course to receive one of the most respected figures of climate policy advice on the planet – and a great pleasure to talk to him as a friend,” says Schellnhuber. “If we want to avoid the raft of climate risks, the US are key to tackling the global challenge.” Together, Holdren and Schellnhuber paid a visit to a number of unique places on Potsdam’s Telegraph Hill that mark the history of science, including the Einstein tower.
