Julia Blocher, PIK FutureLab Social Metabolism and Impacts researcher, recently delivered a TEDx talk in Rome entitled “For Climate Change and Migration, Youth Have the Answers!”
The talk addresses two of today’s greatest global development challenges: climate change and migration. The role of youth serves as a connecting thread throughout a narrative of evidence-based messages about linkages between climate change and different forms of human mobility, different motivations for voluntary migration, and potential areas where governments can help citizens employ migration as a means to improve their livelihoods and community resilience.
Julia delivers a positive message on the transformative, adaptive power of migration - when it is a choice, rather than a necessity in the face of imminent threats - and underlines the role of young people as a force for change.
The talk was covered in the Italian newspaper Corriere
