From 12th to 14th of September the Global Tipping Points Conference was held in Exeter, UK (https://global-tipping-points.org/). The three days were filled with interesting talks and debates all about tipping points, tipping elements, risks assessments and more.
The conference was concluded by a workshop on the new Tipping Model Intercomparison Project (TIPMIP) which is initiated and led by Prof. Ricarda Winkelmann. The ICE group at PIK is planning to contribute to the project investigating the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheet's tipping behavior.
The conference coincides with a new publication in Science which synthesizes evidence for 16 core and regional-impact tipping elements and finds that exceeding 1.5°C global warming could trigger multiple climate tipping points.
