The IAM group aims to promote and develop the Potsdam Integrated Assessment Modelling framework PIAM, and drives the research themes:
- Carbon Management
- Integration of IAMs and Earth System Models
- International Climate Policy
- Sustainable Pathways.
The Integrated Assessment Modelling group uses the Potsdam Integrated Assessment Model PIAM to provide quantitative and consistent analyses of global transformation pathways in line with the Paris Agreement. Central research questions include:
- What are miminum requirements for CDR, both globally and nationally?
- What are the main determinants of these requirements?
- How can sustainable CDR pathways look like?
- How do Earth system feedbacks interact with mitigation?
- What are the effects of exceeding temperature limits for several decades?
- How can we leverage synergies between climate protection and other sustainability goals?
