Since its very beginnings in the early 2000s, more than 10,000 snippets of source code have been added to PISM, the Parallel Ice Sheet Model, on its online github repository. The open source model, mainly developed at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) and in PIK's Ice Dynamics group, is widely used in the cryospheric community all over the globe, covering a broad spectrum of applications.
