This year’s PROTECT fall meeting was held in Grenoble from 3 to 7 October 2022 and offered the possibility to finally meet our project partners in person, two years after the official start of the project. The meeting was organised by IGE-CNRS.
More than fifty representatives discussed the scientific progress of the project on future sea-level rise from Monday evening to Friday evening. The Ice Dynamics group at PIK contributes to PROTECT by studying the long-term sea-level commitment from Antarctica using the Parallel Ice Sheet Model (PISM). Dinners have been organized in the evenings to get to know each other better.
The meeting closed with a bootcamp for the Early Career Scientists, which included, among others, testing the online educational escape game “Save the glaciers!” and visiting the Bastille Fort overlooking the Grenoble area.
