On May 25th PIK hosted a one day event for representatives from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan within study tour to Germany "GIS and Remote Sensing Training". The event was part of GIZ regional project “Ecologically Oriented Regional Development in the Aral Sea Region” (ECO-ARAL) with a support of Reiner Lemoine Institute.
Researchers from PIK presented several talks about science in Germany, the problem of climate change and their work in the Central Asian region within the Green Central Asia project.
The event was followed up by a general discussion where participants from 13 different organisations discussed the problem of climate change in the region and possible adaptation and mitigation approaches that can be implemented as part of future collaboration.
