In cooperation with N-OST, our team from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research will host a workshop for journalists in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). The workshop "Communicating Climate Crisis: Causes, Pathways, and Solutions in Central Asia" is scheduled between June 4th - 8th and intends to provide the journalists with scientifically based climate information and familiarize them with reputable data sources regarding climate information and multi-sectoral impacts, globally as well as regionally. After the successful realization of a similar workshop for journalists last year, a second edition is now taking place in conjunction with a visit to the IFAS 30th Anniversary Conference. Participants of the workshop will be supported in their work by scientific inputs as well as by opportunities for discussion and exchange with other Central Asian journalists. Journalists will work on their media project during the workshop and will receive supervision within the next months to finalise their project with scientific guidance.
The workshop will be conducted within the Green Central Asia initiative launched by the German Foreign Office. The project aims at developing political dialogue and consequently creating better access to information and data to enable countries to assess the impact of climate change more accurately and to develop cooperative preventive measures.
