The aim of the recently launched German Alliance for Global Health Research is to unite the various disciplines contributing to Global Health research in Germany and to foster collaboration across disciplines. At the same time the Alliance would like to address actors from different sectors in order to increase the contribution of the German research community to the Sustainability Development Goals and to further develop Global Health as an academic discipline in Germany.
The Steering Committee is hosted by the Charité and incorporates a multi-disciplinary team of 17 scientists representing a range of fields, namely Biomedicine, Public Health (Prof. Gabrysch), Social Sciences and Humanities, and Engineering and Other Sciences (Dr. Bodirsky).
The Alliance will regularly organise events for scientific exchange, promote interdisciplinary research and support young researchers in Global Health. It is financed by the BMBF and will soon release funding calls for interdisciplinary projects and fellowships. Membership in the Global Health Research Alliance is open to all scientists at publicly funded research institutions in Germany with expertise in topics related to Global Health.
