As part of the kick-off week in Rwanda, PIK scientists met with various stakeholders from government, research, development cooperation and civil society. Highlights included a visit to the Rwanda Climate Change Observatory on Mt. Mugogo and the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) Laboratory in Musanze. The week peaked with a project kick-off workshop that was held in collaboration with GIZ Rwanda and MeteoRwanda as part of the National Climate Outlook Forum (NCOF). Currently, two researchers from MeteoRwanda are conducting a research stay at PIK to collaboratively work on downscaling climate data that will enable high-resolution climate change impact projections for the agricultural sector in Rwanda. The results of the project will foster science-based adaptation planning at national and sub-national level.
