In her doctoral research, funded by the German National Academic Foundation, Lisa studied the relation of weather and climate with agricultural land tenure in low- and middle-income countries. More specifically, she analyzed how (extreme) weather events influence land tenure systems, such as their perceived security and the occurrence of land conflicts, and the perceived importance of land formalization for adaptive agricultural investments. Drawing on household survey data, she applied methods from (climate) econometrics and psychology, and used techniques for causal inference, systematic
literature review, and network analysis.
On her appointment as co-lead of the working group 'Adaptation in Agricultural Systems' she says: 'I am excited to take on this new role in a very dynamic and interdisciplinary research group. Together with my colleagues, I look forward to working on integrating methods from social and natural science to improve our understanding of effective adaptation to climate change in the past, present, and future '. Dr. Murken will co-lead the working group together with Prof. Christoph Gornott.
Success on two fronts: RD2 congratulates Dr. Lisa Murken!
