LogaSelfservice for SHK/WHK

Recording working hours

All student assistants (SHK) and science assistants (WHK) need to make use of the Loga SelfService to write down their working hours. This is a very important issue, since the payment depends on it.

If you are employed a student assistants  or science assistants at PIK, please note:

  • Your working contract is based on a defined number of hours per week. Take care to record the contractually agreed weekly working hours
  • Pay attention not to exceed your weekly working hours. Especially student assistants (SHK) should never exceed a limit of 20 hours per week***!
  • A compensation of working hours between different weeks is NOT possible, even within the same month
  • When you start at PIK, you should specify your regular weekly working days with the HR department.
  • If a public holiday falls on one of your regular weekly working days, it is automatically considered as "worked". The scheduled working hours do not have to be compensated on other days of the week.

To enable the time recording with your loga account please follow this procedure:

  1. Determine on which days of the week you want to work by sending an email to: 'loga@pik-potsdam.de'
  2. The personnel office will unlock your 'Online Terminal' to record your working hours using Loga
  3. Add your email address to your Loga account (Personal Details > Contact data) and activate the email notification (User menu [bottom left] > Notification parameters > activate 'E-mail notification')

For instructions on the recording of times in LogaSelfservice, please refer to:

*** As a student, you may not work more than this 20h per week, because otherwise you will lose your exemption from the social security obligation (payment of social security contributions, e.g. for health insurance) and you will then be liable to pay contributions, which means that you will have deductions from your salary (employee's share). In addition, your studies are the main focus of your work performance and the activity as a student assistant may only be a secondary activity, which would no longer be guaranteed if the 20h are exceeded.
