PIK offers a few places each year for students to do an internship (Praktikum).
Opportunities for internships as part of your university education thus exist for students from various disciplines (physics, mathematics, climatology, social or environmental sciences, informatics, etc.). Good software knowledge and programming skills are a prerequisite. Economists / environmental economists need a good knowledge in econometrics and theory.
Applicants should be enrolled in a Master’s program, and thus have already completed about 5 or 6 semesters of their university course, and be willing to spend at least 6 to 8 weeks at PIK. Applications from students before or just starting their university studies cannot be accepted. Please note also that student internships are unpaid.
If you are interested in an internship or a supervised thesis at PIK please be aware that we receive up to 30 applications each month, and we can respond to and host only a fraction of these applicants. In a first step, inform yourself on the homepage about the research departments and working groups. Once you have found the research department, working group or Future Lab where you would like to complete an internship, start filling in information in the online form linked below. You will be asked to fill in and upload specific information. You will receive an automated confirmation that your application has been entered into the database. Due to the high volume of applications, we regret that we can only directly respond to those who may be invited to an interview.
