description:
Rainfed agriculture is dependent on precipitation and highly sensitive to climatic variabilities and weather extremes. Due to the dependency on water availability from rain, climate change and its estimated variations in precipitation and climatic extremes is critical to farm productivity. Serious water shortages are estimated to develop in arid and semi-arid regions. Thus, rainfed agriculture face challenges in terms of long dry spells, intense rains storms, reduced water flows, erosion and degradation. Additionally, decreasing water supply and soil moisture could make it less feasible to continue crop production.
