Biosketch
Dr. Sara Vassolo (Argentinean and Italian origin) studied Water Engineering at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She got her PhD at the University of Kassel, where she investigated on field of groundwater modelling. Her thesis was focused on the design of well catchment areas based on statistical methods.
After a 5-year period stay in Africa, where she worked as a hydrogeologist and groundwater modeller in Namibia and Botswana, she returned to Germany to work in the team of Prof. Joseph Alcamo at the University of Kassel. There she investigated in the field of global scenarios of water use and water availability with special emphasis on industrial water use.
Since May 2003 she is working for the BGR (Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe) as a hydrogeologist. She co-leads a team of experts working on the investigation of the Guarani aquifer in Paraguay.
