05/13/2011 - High-ranking international guests visited the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research this week. As different as the countries where they come from may be, they agree in their interest in the work of the institute with its transdisciplinary approach and focus on climate research that makes it one of the world´s leading institutions.
Mexico plans to establish a climate centre on its own, and its ambassador, Francisco González Díaz, met PIK director Hans Joachim Schellnhuber to discuss possible cooperations. Representatives of the Environmental Protection Authority of Ethiopia learned about the challenges of climate change and what potential measures derive from climate impact research. A Romanian parliamentary delegation got an update on the latest findings of climate research by PIK scientists, and the Norwegian Minister for Education and Research, Tora Aasland, discussed sea level rise and arctic warming with experts from PIK and Alfred Wegener Institute.
