Gornott, who worked as a farmer on dairy farms before his academic career, will remain at PIK as head of the "Adaptation in Agricultural Systems" working group, which is part of the "Climate resilience" research department. There he continues his research with the aim to improve food security and resilience of tropical agricultural systems - funded amongst others by the European Union, the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
"We are pleased that we have been able to recruit Christoph Gornott as a proven expert in sustainability research," said Reiner Finkeldey, President of the University of Kassel, in a statement published by the University of Kassel. "I am also very pleased that the department has proceeded with this appointment process so quickly and determined. This appointment opens up excellent prospects for close cooperation with PIK in sustainability research."
Christoph Gornott said he was very pleased to be able to conduct his research at PIK as well as at the University of Kassel in the future. "Both institutions are excellently positioned to jointly investigate the climate-related impacts on agriculture in an interdisciplinary manner."
