On November 19th Katharina Reiche (Christian Democratic Union of Germany), State Secretary in the Federal Environment Ministry and Member of Parliament, will open the summit at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). After finishing the negotiations, the results will be presented to a panel of experts who will discuss the results in the light of the real COP15 negotiations. Former State Secretary Michael Müller (Social Democratic Party of Germany) will be part of the expert panel.
The participants will discuss four key topics of the COP15 negotiations in break out groups:
- adaptation to Climate Change impacts
- responsibilities and burden sharing for Climate Change mitigation action
- the role of avoided deforestation and land-use management
- improvements of the Clean Development Mechanism.
The Model-Summit will be conducted by the society Model-G8 Germany. The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research is a cooperation partner.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the opening at 9:30 am and the panel discussion at 5:30 pm.
