COP23 in Bonn mit starker PIK-Präsenz

03.11.2017 - Eine ganze Reihe der Experten des Potsdam-Instituts für Klimafolgenforschung (PIK) nehmen vom 6.-17. November an der UN-Klimakonferenz COP23 teil, die unter dem Vorsitz von Fidschi dieses Jahr in Bonn stattfindet. So wird PIK-Direktor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber etwa gemeinsam mit der Chefin des UN-Klimasekretariats die zehn wichtigsten Fakten vorstellen, die man über das Klima wissen muss. Auf einem Side Event mit Experten der ETH Zürich, der ACT Alliance und Brot für die Welt wird PIKs Chefökonom Ottmar Edenhofer über Gerechtigkeit im Rahmen des Pariser Abkommens diskutieren.

Sowohl Schellnhuber als auch Edenhofer werden darüber hinaus an weiteren hochrangig besetzten Veranstaltungen teilnehmen, unten dazu eine vorläufige Liste aller Events. Weitere PIK-Wissenschaftler sprechen auf zahlreichen Events rund um die COP – so wird Elmar Kriegler gleich zu Beginn die verschiedenen Dekarbonisierungsstrategien der wichtigsten Länder im Vergleich von 1.5 und 2 Grad erörtern. Anders Levermann wird unter anderem auf einem Symposium zur Anpassung von Küsten an steigende Meeresspiegel sprechen, aber auch an einem high-level event zu den Ozeanen im Fidschi-Pavillon teilnehmen. Christoph Gornott und Kira Vinke werden mit unter anderem Koko Warner über Ernteversicherungen für Kleinbauern diskutieren. Und Jürgen Kropp erläutert die Vision eines klimafreundlichen Europas.
