After the royal visit, Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, PIK director and host to the Prince, paid tribute to his detailed knowledge of the global sustainability problem. The Prince’s emergency action plan for rainforest protection (http://www.princesrainforestsproject.org/) – supported by 16 major companies and currently under evaluation by international experts – was among the best he has seen in this context so far, said Schellnhuber. The personal commitment of Prince Charles, as one of the world's most prominent figures, to the rainforests' and climate protection was of inestimable value. The dialogue between the Prince and the scientists is soon to be continued: at the end of May, a second Nobel Laureates Symposium in the “Global Sustainability” series will be held in London. The series was initiated by Schellnhuber in Potsdam in October 2007. The approaching event will be held under the auspices of Prince Charles.
