Ottmar Edenhofer is Professor of Climate Economics and Public Policy at the Technische Universität Berlin. Among other positions, he is chair of the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change (ESABCC). For years, he has been among the 1% most cited global scientists in the category "interdisciplinary science" according to the Web of Science citation index.
With around 400 members, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (formerly the Prussian Academy of Sciences) serves to promote the sciences, performs tasks of advising society and politics, promotes dialogue between science and society, and supports institutional cooperation between non-university research and the universities in Berlin and Brandenburg. This association of outstanding scholars and scientists has a tradition of more than 300 years.
With his appointment to the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Ottmar Edenhofer is now a member of three national Academies of Science. Since 2018, he has been a member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, which unites outstanding researchers from German-speaking countries with its approximately 1,600 members. He has also been a member of the National Academy acatech since 2016. With its 600 members, this academy advises politicians and the public on the best state of research in technology-related issues of the future.
