Unfortunately, there is a well-funded effort by the fossil fuel industry and their friends to deny that global warming is a problem. The methods, history and funding behind this denial campaign are well documented in books like Merchants of Doubt by science historian Naomi Oreskes and Eric Conway. In the US, one study found that climate change denial organisations received $900 million US$ between 2003 to 2010 alone; they have received more since then.
