Calculation of water demand, its balance with natural discharges and of the resulting water supply including the economic losses from reduced water use. Development of water management strategies.

Model interfaces to (input data): SWIM, WABI, KASIM, INDUSTRIE WASSER, HAUSHALT WASSER, MODAM

Model interfaces to (output data): SOM (socioeconomic/water resources management demand and assessment functions)

Peculiarities: 22 sub modules, 1916 calculation profiles, 2700 water uses, 114 reservoirs, 25 wetlands. Economic water demand and assessment functions.

Time frames: Validation: model quality depends on quality of data about water uses

Projection: 2003-2052

Potential users and application areas: Water authorities or consultant companies concerned with water management planning like definition of management guidelines in river basins, reservoir design or environmental-impact studies for development projectsn

Availability: Software simulation system WBalMo® is a product of WASY GmbH (for further information see www.wasy.de).

Resources needed for set-up of site-specific model: About 1 month and more, depending on complexity of river network, water use and management processes.
